Singer and songwriter Andrew Greer releases his sophomore album entitled Angel Band: The Hymn Sessions.

Uniqueness and passion combined with his inventive and creative style gives the album its luster. These hymns are enveloped with his distinctive folk styled vocals and acoustic guitar which provide most of the album’s sound and overtone.

Each hymn illustrates different stories of heavenly travels, God’s graces, blessings and much more. Andrew Greer takes you on this journey with him sharing these words of beauty.

One song that stood out to me was “Never Grow Old.” Within this hymn, Greer does a good job of exclaiming how when we are to leave the Earth to live in our perfect home in Heaven, there will be continuous joy as we sing praises to our Lord for eternity. Along with that, Greer ministers Heavenly bliss of no more pain, tears, aging, or death.

Track Listing

1. O Come Angel Band

2. Never Grow Old

3. Down by the Riverside

4. Softly and Tenderly

5. Jesus Paid It all

6. The Lord’s Prayer

7. In the Garden

8. I Am Thine O Lord/ Near the Cross

9. I've Been Searching

10. The Unclouded Day

11. Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

12. All Creatures of Our God and King

Each hymn has a great story of hope, love, compassion and conviction; however, the album lacks some alacrity and seems a bit repetitive musically.

All of the hymns are different and are meant to tell different stories and bring forth different emotions. Based on that principal, it is not very clear which emotion belongs to which song.

With such powerful words in each hymn, great emotions are to be expected, but are not brought forth vocally or musically. Nonetheless, Greer has his heart in the right place and shows with more dedication he has wonderful potential of growing as an artist.
